Mike remembers first hearing Dougie play when he was 13, polishing off Purple Haze! He's a guy who wanders round the house with his guitar on a strap, playing arpeggios that make your jaw drop.

He attended Aberdeen City Music School for two years studying guitar and piano but then quit . Dougie says it all got a bit clinical and he felt this wasn't how music should be approached. Equally at home playing classical he just didn't get the buzz out of it that he got from Rock.

He joined Straight Shooter in May 2007 following the reformation of the band

Dougie claims influences from Yngwie, Randy Rhodes, Paganini, Bach etc. We will get an mp3 up on the site soon so you can make your own mind up! He met up with Malmsteen in Sweden and spent some time with his singer, fellow Scot, Dougie White.

So you might well ask why he's in tow with these old hacks? Partly it was location, but what he's been missing is gigging experience which is what Straight Shooter has heaps of, plus we genuinely hit it off in terms of musical tastes and we all like to play seriously loud
SS have always been involved with supporting and teaching young musicians; now we have one of our own but this time he's teaching us!
